New Salem’s Response to the Covid-19 Crisis

(updated August 12, 2021)

Your physical health and safety are important to us, but so is your spiritual health. Since we resumed in-person worship on May 31, 2020, we have met safely without any outbreaks being traced back to our meetings. We credit that to both God’s gracious protection and the common sense measures we have taken to reduce the chance of infection.  All the while we have been keeping a close eye on both infection rates and vaccination rates in our community, so that we can respond accordingly.

While we have scaled back some of the preventative measures we have followed for the past year,  the threat is not entirely over.  With that in mind, we ask that you continue to help us protect one another by following these simple guidelines:

  • If you have any Covid symptoms (fever, runny nose, coughing, sore throat, loss of taste or smell)  please stay home until you are well, and worship with us via our livestream. We will be happy to welcome you back once you are feeling better.

  • Please continue to observe social distancing and respect one another’s personal space.

  • If you have not been vaccinated, please feel free to wear a facemask inside the building, both for your protection and for the comfort of those sitting around you. In fact, with the rise of the Delta variant, even those who are vaccinated may want to consider masking up while indoors.

  • Please continue to make use of the hand sanitizer frequently we have stationed around the building.

  • If you have not yet been vaccinated, please give this step some consideration. Many of the people attending our services have been vaccinated, but we respect that this is a personal choice.

  •  Please remember that instead of passing an offering plate, we are collecting gifts through two collection boxes located just inside the main auditorium. You may also take advantage of our online giving option.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Sunday School & Small Groups

Sundays, 9:30 AM

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most of our small groups have been paused for the past year. However, several of our groups have recently resumed meeting in-person on Sundays at 9:30 AM, and additional groups are being added weekly based on interest and availability. Here are the groups that are meeting currently:

-Nursery (ages 0-3, in the nursery area)

-Children (combined in the Children’s Church area, but hoping to split into age groups soon)

-Youth (Middle & Senior High, meeting in New Salem’s Unity Building)

-Adulting 101 (young couples, meeting across from the church office)

-the Doves (open to all ladies, meeting in the Dove classroom)

– the Sportsmen’s Class (open to all men, meeting across from the Dove classroom)

-Mixed Adults (open to everyone else, meeting in the Harvester’s classroom)

All other on-campus services and activities

remain canceled unless otherwise noted.

What else is New Salem doing to meet safely?
  •  We are thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the spaces we will be using.
  • We have secured items like no-contact thermometers, cleaning supplies, masks, and no-contact dispenser stations for hand-sanitizers.
  • Bulletins will be available for pick-up at stations in the main lobby.
  • Please respect the six-foot social distancing recommendations while in the building.
We realize that some of these measures may seem inconvenient, but for the moment they are necessary in order to keep each other safe. We appreciate your cooperation.
